TotW: Of Pureblood and Mud…gleborn ..Part 3

Do you have it?
The true difference in the end is Talents, and where the stats come from. If your class gains a secondary stat from one of your primary stats (like spell from stamina, agility or strength) it can be and probably is a hybrid (kittys can tank since agi gives dodge or even heal when talented, prot/ret pallys can heal, DKs can tank since strength gives parry, and their cooldowns are almost all available since many are untalented).
Multirole classes, when performing a certain role cannot be expected to fill in on another role. In the end, “hybrids” aren’t taking spots for “pures”, its roles vs roles, this tank vs another, caster vs melee, but single roles fighting for their spots. The only places where hybrids (as the ones that CAN do 2 roles) can take another roles spot, is when you know there is a possibility that there will be a need for a filler. Some examples:
-a healer is having connection issues so u send a retpally or sh priest to help with heals if he d/c.
-a fight that is new to the group, and some mechanic you havent identified is killing your tank, you may need a hybrid to tank, either to take the mechanics killing blow to save your tank, or to hold the boss while the tank is being brezzed.
In the end its a fight between roles, and the possibility of fulfilling many roles does not make a class a hybrid, nor should it forcibly expected to be one of the rarer roles.
As a closing statement let me leave you this little tip: Train and Learn all of your classes abilities, even those not belonging to your role. If you have to step in on an emergency, these can make the diference between wipe and success. A pally can hand of sacrifice, sacred shield, hand of protection, a priest can pw word shield, both can dispel, and cleansing poisons diseases, o curses can prevent a ton of damage. Using these tricks you can avoid a lot of damage and offheal for a bit longer.
Cheers,
Isma
